September Writing Challenge #22 – My Morning Routine
So, this is a boring one! I wish I could tell you that I have an amazingly productive morning every day, where I get up earlier than necessary, work out, consume a nutritious breakfast and walk the dog. Truth is, I force myself out of bed at 5:40am after snoozing for 40 minutes, shower with my eyes barely open, feed the animals, then drink oh-so-delicious black coffee while I continue to get ready. Once I’ve rushed through doing my makeup and hair, and tried on about 7 different outfits before settling on the first one I put on, I sit in traffic for an hour and question how badly I really need money. I mean, do I really need to work?! Is this all really worth it?!
(the answer to the first question is yes. The answer to the second is “I don’t know…”)
All that boring-ness aside, I would really like to change some things about my mornings so I’m going to take this post as my cue to make a change to my morning routine. Since today is Friday, I’m going to make it my goal to get up at least 15 minutes earlier every day next week and I will write about it the following week. I’m hoping that the 15 minutes will help me to feel more productive, less rushed and less stressed. At the very least, maybe it’ll allow me some time to actually eat so that the “hanger pains” don’t keeping coming out at 8am meetings.
How do you guys spend your mornings?
